Hi Tim,Apologies for a late response. I had never heard a stock unit before the mods. Here's what Dan did:
-General Power Supply Mods
-Digital (coax) out Mods
-2-Channel Analogue Output Mods
-Transport Mods
-Bybee installation at AC inletApproximate cost was $1000.- that included the Bybees + BG Caps etc..
I had compared the modded Denon to a few stock Sony ES players and the Denon was better across the board in terms of increased background silence, sonic weight and heft, smoother highs and better instrument seperation and depth within the sonic soundstage, with a more 'focused' presentation. In general, the modded 5900 had a much more refined presentation in comparison.
It also proved a KILLER transport driving my ex Assemblage DAC combo bettering all stock players I had been using before, and by far !
