Nathan,Have you tried to replace the stock tubes? If so, what were the results?
Today I replaced the stock EH 6922 tubes with NOS Mullard CV4110/E188CC tubes, but was immediately disappointed. The sound became softer, ldess coherent, and I noticed an unpleasant smearing of dynamics and the lack of punch, focus and dynamic contrasts. It appears that Blue Note voice their CD players with carefully selected and perfectly matched current production tubes with excellent results. I suspect that Mullards with their soft and "silky" sound are only good to compensate for harshness of speakers and/or electronics.
I will appreciate your advice.
