Are your phono outputs direct from the cartridge? If so you will need an RIAA converter, ie a phono preamp to correct the frequency curve and boost the tiny signal.But you already have one of those in your receiver! So just take a connection from the tape output of you receiver and use that.
Music is NOT recorded onto a CD, digital data is. In this case it is then interpreted as music after DtoA coversion.
Although some blank disks may be sold as "audio Cds", I don't think the recorder laser or the CD itself are let into the secret that it is "music" coming down the pipe!
