"Oops, I twisted the wrong way!"

In 1996, Amber's "This Is Your Night" brought Eurodance to the American mainstream. You joyfully danced and boogied. You were so happy, it did not matter, which way you twisted.

My friends and I then went to Honolulu. They didn't exactly twist in the wind. But at night on the windward shores, the Portuguese men-o-war came in with the tides and wind. It was then time for you to blow into Audio Directions Ltd. Kimber Kable had become the U.S. distributor of WBT. Consequently, the late Stewart Ono (AA's UncleStu52) got in some PBJ, Silver Streak, and KCAG interconnects, with WBT's 0147 and 0108 locking-barrel RCA jacks. Stu had compared these, to the old Kimber UltraPlate RCA. Lo and behold, Stu discovered that that UltraPlate RCA was responsible for much of the interconnects' perceived brightness.

In 1994, my girlfriend ACS and I initially encountered locking-barrel RCA plugs on Tara Labs interconnects. Those RCAs ticked ACS off. She remarked, "You need three hands, to plug and unplug these pieces of s---. If you're going to twist, it better be lipstick or lip balm."

The single-ended Kimber Carbon comes standard with locking-barrel WBT-0114 RCAs. While the RCA plug has a serial number, the Kimber Carbon itself does not.

Over the years, WBT made a concerted effort, to minimize the use metals. Note that much of the WBT-0114 consists of plastic. Many of you have complained (justifiably so, in many cases) that locking-barrel RCAs sting worse than Portuguese men-o-war. If you are dead-set against the WBT-0114, we'll just have to ask, if Kimber can make the Carbon IC with a different RCA plug, perhaps their own UltraPlate.
