I absolutely hate using spades. I'm using Furutech locking bananas, they are (almost) a right angle and have a knob on the back for tightening. They are easy to use, make good tight, contact and don't take up a lot of real estate behind your gear. WBT also makes then and work as well. That said, they aren't cheap.
