Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

It's been slow-going

A little while back, I received, on three separate occasions, Kimber Naked RCA interconnects. Each pair belonged to a different audiophile, none of whom knew each other. Basically, I stuck each pair on the audiodharma Cable Cooker, and shipped them back to their owner.

As the three audiophiles above did not give me permission to blog about the Naked, only my closest relatives and friends knew that I had handled the three pairs.

However, one of my actual audiophile acquaintances came up with the balanced Kimber Naked. Word leaked out (not really; we openly discussed the Naked), and ever since, audiophiles have been peppering me with questions about the Naked. Alas, many of these audiophiles, because of the product name, have been immature. I was going to write "juvenile," but that would have been an insult to actual juveniles.

When you possess such as exclusive product, (1) you feel unworthy. But (2), you have a burden and responsibility. And that's why it's been taking so long, for me and my writing partners, to put these reviews together. We need to find the best electronics. And then, if at all possible, we need to compare the Naked to (a) Kimber's less costly models, and (b) other high-priced competition.

Because I have decades of experience with Kimber products, I am an appropriate person to review the Naked. However, the balanced pair has been making the rounds, and has not made its way back to me.

My friend Kuma and her husband have Mark Levinson gear. They thought the Naked was "very good," but did not use superlatives.

The guy with the Jeff Rowland gear also thinks the Naked is very good, but prefers Cardas, Nordost, and Pranawire.

But the guy with Sonic Frontiers gear absolutely loves the Naked, doesn't want to give it up, LOL!

Perhaps as early as this summer, my audiophile circle/network/web will forward a Totem Signature One monitor to me. Since I have had extensive experience with Totem's Model 1 Signature, Mani-2 Signature, The One, Rainmaker, Rokk, Mite, Ember, and Fire monitors, I am an appropriate person to review a Signature One. So we shall see which product Lummy gets to first: the Kimber Naked or a Totem Signature One.
