I am using a crummy old printer cable and an A to C USB adapter to connect my DAC (Schiit Bifrost 2) to my preamp (Schiit Saga). I want to get a better cable. My computer (MacBook Air) has a USB C connector so I'd like to get a cable with that connection to avoid using an adapter. I note that AudioQuest makes several cables that would work for me as far as connecting components is concerned.
I would like to know:
1. Whether cables should be short or long (0.75 or 1.5 M) in the case of AQ cables.
2. Whether, in your experience, different brands or prices of such cables make a big difference in sound.
3. Whether any other mfgs make cables I ought to consider?
Many thanks,
George
