Monosaudio P902 Power Cord - Another Discovery

Hi everyone,

As mentioned in my last post | I've been following the post of a member on Head-Fi. Org whom goes by Shiraz ( George ) who is the Australian than initially drew my interest to the Accuphase 40th Anniversary cord which I've found absolutely stunning, and taking into account it can once again be found from several American eBay sellers at $34.00 or thereabouts I do believe most of you here will be very very surprised by its overall performance.

Yet upon sending Shiraz a PM several days ago | inquiring about yet another find by him, let's just say my gut instincts told me to purchase one even before hearing back from yet, such was the impact upon my system that his first recommendation bought | so with that being said..., here's his response to my questions on the Monosaudio P902 PC as copied from our discussion:

Hello Oscar! I enjoyed your posts in this thread and miss seeing you around here. The subject matter has taken an esoteric veer towards grounding boxes, and I hope that it returns to the core subject.

I am touched by your acceptance of my recommendation and really enjoyed reading your thoughts on Audio Asylum. I'm not sure that I'd express a word differently - the Accuphase truly was a revelation for me, easily outperforming the Neardost cables, commercial cables that far exceed its cost, and at least a half dozen other AE PC cables. Having retired or returned others, I plan to keep the 3 Accuphase cables that ordered (unmodified) for their sheer musicality and the "body" that they bring to my main system - which needs a little taming - all whilst maintaining excellent resolution and soundstage.

On the P902 - despite many words read and years in this hobby, you'll have to forgive the way that I express it - it took all of the magic that the Accuphase gave me and sprinkled it with a little more resolution and extension at the top, while (perhaps) giving up a little of the lower bass extension. Overall, and in my system, that equated to a little more depth in the soundstage and (again, a little) better separation of instruments. All that said, as between the two, it's probably a question of flavour rather than quality - and that's why I'm keeping the Accuphase cables in rotation. I've had 3 variants of the P902:

I first DIY'd from bulk cable and found that tricky because each conductor has 7 individually wrapped solid cores, matched with these connectors

then bought this (which sounded essentially the same as the DIY version)

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...9c16760806839798091e149f!12000021299345320!sh,
and finally this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...9c16760806839798091e149f!12000031690329097!sh - a version with "pure copper" connectors that sell individually at a significant premium to the 1 and 2 above connectors.

I wasn't sure that I'd hear the upgrade in connectors but I did - it was small but indisputably noticeable and I validated that with a friend on both my system and his. For context, I'm driving McIntosh MC302 power into B&W 804 Diamonds, fed by a modded Bluesound Node and Schitt Bifrost 2 (my weakest link - I'm eyeing off the Pontus II).

If you do try the P902, I'd love to hear whether you have a similar experience or whether the Accuphase retains the crown.

I hope that this is as helpful to you as your posts have been to me! Stay well mate!
Cheers, George

As I once again see it..., it isn't going to hurt any of us to sample said $34-$60-$99 cords, especially taking into account what many of them cost these days, back in my days as an audio hardware buyer, I had long noticed the current thread were on average for consumer's to buy a half decent pair of IC's | PC started at $398 for then 1m length, and went upwards from there.

Todays market is once again more global, even more so than when we saw imports from Japan | England | Germany | France | China begin to suffer starting in the late 60s till now, once again being as I've always purchased Audio gear starting in 1979, while stationed in Japan, these days I'd care less about the origins of most gear, provided it doesn't blow up within seconds, and offers great sound | value doesn't hurt, I've never forgotten my time with either of the Antique Sound Labs DT-103(?) or Cayin TA-30 I owned between 2001-2007, as an introduction to Chi-Fi tube gear that was very very reliable to say the least, whereas my earlier venture with tubes began once again in 1998 with a Dynaco ST-70 | followed by a pair of Quicksilver 8714 Mono-Blocks in 1999, followed by an Audioprism Debut MK ll in 1996 which were American designs, of which cost me at the time $350 | $1.200 | $2.800 respectively, these days I can only recall each of them in my memories | but oh how sweetly each played music above mere measurements, it hurts at times to admit to myself I've like most moved onto other gear, only to look back and say at best I've made lateral or backwards movements.

For me, buying new electronics for the sake of newness isn't an option | if any given piece isn't broken?, I'll be living with until it, or I dies. Period.
