Having heard the real NordOst line as far back as 2000, when both them and the Harmonic Technologies lines both were seen as the only game in town, at least to many of the shops here in Michigan, I came away thinking the former were primarily beautifully balanced, especially when placed into a SET based system, where their speed | nimbleness | sense of upper end detailing assisted in creating a type of signature which allowed said type of amplification to sound how does the saying go?, less laidback as it allowed for better articulation which were otherwise somewhat like the classic tube presentation of days gone by..., like some finding say a Dynaco St-70 very very nice in the midrange, yet always complained about its fluffy low end, yet as heard with once again acoustic jazz, it was a thing of beauty.
As Americans begun the search for more and more power, tubes became a thing of the past, except in Japan and France that is during the late 60s, once again this was one of the main reasons tube brands like Raytheon | Telefunken became so popular during the golden era of said tube technology, as they both were capable of counterbalancing the weakness of said limited bandwidth, and added snap as well as attack to said presentation, recreating a sense of balance.
I seriously doubt many can afford either the real Odin 2 or Odin Gold, of even afford to sit down to listen to either..., as I've told friends | associates for years, it's hard to miss something in which one never gets the chance to hear in their own homes | for the price of the Odin Gold SCs, one could in all honesty have a very very nice source and amplification alone, the old Linn way was both of these first, coupled to a cheap pair of speakers until one could afford better, still makes perfect sense to this day.
