If you really like the performance of the 30 year old cables (which may have been expensive), can the old insulation material be readily pealed off and replaced with some new insulation material that is even better (possibly recommended by others from this forum with DIY cables). You would have to post what the cables are and maybe with pics. Just wondering, and hopefully this is a long shot on helping you out. And for those reading this with much more knowledge on such, what is the audio effect of insulation material degrading after 30 years?
