Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

What's wrong with bare copper-wire speaker connections?

Why do we bother with expensive bananas/spade speaker-connectors? It seems to me that bare-copper speaker-cable tightened to speaker posts (WBTs for my speakers)gives a clearer and more spacious sound. I appreciate the argument that copper quickly oxidises, but Caig Deoxit seems to do a great job of clearing this up and restoring performance. It's true that bare wire terminations compress, thus loosening the connector, but after a while they settle and stay tight.

Do any inmates have any views on this?

Paul
