I posted a few weeks back about how cleaning (and treating with Caig Pro Gold) only the male end of my CD Player PC caused my high end to go from Romance to Hell. No other changes were made. Now several weeks, and a vacation, later my system has returned to a slightly brighter version of its former self. Sweet, romantic and musical again, though a bit more extended and open, listening is fun once again.
I did remove the Pro Gold, and let the PC sit exposed to the air for a week (inexpensive but pretty good sounding Sounstring, brass plated ends I think). Musicality improved slowly after that to just now being wonderful again after returning from a vacation.
Just another observation of how small changes in my system (especially the source AC) can make or break my musical enjoyment. I'd experienced this before with an "audiophile" wall outlet, and a heavily shielded "digital" power cord on the same CDP.
