As for the use of carbon fiber, it is not as effective of a emi/rfi shield as conventional metal shields. refer to:

It is though a good ESD material which is one of the reasons why I use it in the construction of my cords. My expierence is that it is rather fragile in it's raw, unepoxyed state, treat it with kid gloves or you will damage it.
