Hello,The mid range on these speakers can be “heaven or hell†depending on the rest of the system (system matching is the key). If you are using the mention Supra cables, both the AudioQuest CV-8 or the Kimber 8TC/8VS will be a real improvement (I have tried these Supra cables).
I have also heard that the 804s is a easier load for the amplifier than the N804 due to the different crossover filters.
You are also correct about the burn in of your new system, the sound will be improved over time.
I am also using Soundanchour speaker stands on my speakers, these are “worth the money†( http://www.soundanchors.com/page34.html ), much better than the original spikes.
