Good idea to try out the configuration with a lower-cost cable rig first. Glad it worked !Maybe try a decent Y-connector instead of a Y-cable, then use the best interconnect you can afford.
UHF Magazine sells a gold-plated, Teflon-insulated Y-connector for CN$20 but you might find a very similar one elsewhere.
For a signal path with minimum breaks, have a cable builder make you up a custom job.
