Yes, cross connected 89259. Same kind of solder, same bananas, same mediocre quality soldering job (I'm not an expert).I used 8-conductor Cat 5, tied both ends into a vice, twisted them into a twisted pair as evenly as I could, about an inch or so twist, then stripped the ends, twisted the bare copper conductors together, then tinned and soldered into the bananas. So each banana has eight conductors.
The glare the 89259s were causing is gone. With the Cat-5s I'm getting deep and tight and tuneful bass, the mids are warm and organic sounding, the highs sparkle with clarity and imaging is fair to good. It's not the most expensive system in the world.
I suppose I could try burning in the 89259s for a week or so, but at this point I'm going to say the heck with it and stick with the Cat-5 until I can afford real cables...
