The new TP Ultra weren't shipped out until last week so there won't be opinions on them just yet. There are a few testers who's had them for over a month now, Roger Gordon from Positive Feedback also has a pair but his father is ill so he hasn't done any critical listening. The strength of the J. Risch Twisted Pair is its openess, neutralness, without being harsh. In the cable shootout article written by Positive Feedback in 2004 (issue 16), the Twisted Pair II didn't quite measure up to a couple of the $1000 interconnect it was compared to. After this article came out, we decided to improve the TP II. The Twisted Pair speaker cable will not be replaced.
The new TP Ultra has more detail, better imaging, better control. Conductor, shielding, and consistency in TP Ultra is also superior to TP II. TP II is slightly more open and relaxed compared to the Ultra.Anthony
