First of all, let me say that this forum is great and I soon got feedback. So, thank you all for promptly answering!Let me clearify that I like the sound of the Quad. However, I noticed that IC RCA cables sound more lively than Quadlink. I'm preparing an alternative cable to Quadlink/Quadbus/Ampbus with the help of a very good technician. The sound of this cable is competitive with that of standard IC RCA cables.
When opening the chassis, this friend of mine noticed that the quality of components is high. So, it's probably risky to chop the muting transistor. On the other hand, he noticed that ribbon cable, which is somehow in contrast with the quality of the rest. Same applies for the D-sub DA-15 connectors.
After building the alternative cable to Quadlink, my plans are to ask my friend to replace connectors and solder them with good wires as you suggest.
BWT, is anyone willing to send me the 99 series schematics? They are hard to find.
Thanks again!
Cheers
Roberto
